This week on The Construction Record Podcast, national managing editor Vince Versace looks into a new welding bursary established by Nicole LeClair to give back to her skilled trades community, as well as the renovation of the CAMH walls in Toronto, a landmark in the city with a somewhat dark history. Vince also talks about a recent story about shotcrete, a material that has been in use for some time but is now seeing more use in in the industry.
Vince also points to the Women in Construction feature series, which ran across the Journal of Commerce and Daily Commercial News. We received great feedback about those stories and focuses on the “Her Construction Story” social media series we’ve recently undertaken.
Journal of Commerce digital media editor Warren Frey and staff writer Russell Hixson look at topics as diverse as the movement towards prompt payment in British Columbia, a flagger who avoided an attempted kidnapping, the just-announced Vancouver Regional Construction Association’s Silver Awards of Excellence winners and Brittany Lyseng, a standup comedian who draws from her time building elevator for laughs.
Daily Commercial News staff writer Angela Gismondi also has an interview with KickAss Careers founder Jamie McMillan about the Equality (WE) Awareness Ribbon campaign, which begins on September 18, an event that will be presented by Women in Renewable Energy, Alectra Utilities and KickAss Careers.
