This week Journal of Commerce digital media editor Warren Frey and staff writer Russell Hixson talk about what they’re working on, including Russell’s story on fly in-fly out temporary workers in Fort McMurray, Alta., as well as a Canadian Construction Association mentoring program. Warren also goes into detail on his recent stories on the Oakridge Centre redevelopment, as well as a story about a heritage house which will be the centerpiece of a larger office building and integrated into the structure, and a joint London-Vancouver sustainability seminar.
Warren and Russell also look at some current stories in Ontario, including controversy over redevelopment of Ontario Place, a new Buildforce Canada report, and Daily Commercial News staff writer Angela Gismondi has an interview with Nik Nanos, the executive director of the Nanos Reasarch Group of companies.
Warren also has two interviews from the recent community benefits agreements conference held in Vancouver, the first with BC Building Trades executive director Tom Sigurdson and the second with B.C. minister of transportation and infrastructure Claire Trevena.
