This week on the Construction Record podcast, Journal of Commerce staff writer Russell Hixson, digital media editor Warren Frey and Daily Commercial News and Journal of Commerce national managing editor Vince Versace tackle the top issues in the industry, starting with Russell’s recent article about changes to worker’s compensation in British Columbia which has been praised by the province’s building trades but generated concern amongst B.C.’s open shop stakeholders.

Russell also looks at how the Saskatchewan Construction Association’s is opposing a bill which would exempt residential construction from prompt payment legislation, and Warren talks about a recent article he wrote looking at the City of Vancouver’s planning pivot in response to COVID-19, as well as a look at an upcoming story about a contentious tower set to build on Vancouver’s busy Broadway corridor.

Our feature interview is with construction reform guru Barry LePatner who takes a look with Vince at how the construction industry both north and south of the border will adapt to a post-COVID world especially in regard to supply chains which have been disrupted and may need a rethink as economies emerge from the pandemic.
