In this episode of the Five Pods of Xmas Daily Commercial News and Journal of Commerce daily editor Lindsey Cole looks at the biggest stories that crossed her desk in 2021 and what she expects to see as we go into 2022.

COVID-19 dominated the headlines for another year. The construction industry has found ways to adapt to the pandemic including vaccination policies for worksites which Lindsey pointed to as a big difference from the beginning of 2020. She also pointed the “other pandemic” of substance use and the need for more mental health resources and complimented the work of the editorial team on our Cracks in the Foundation series.

Lindsey said in 2022 both climate change and the construction industry’s drive to retrofits and other ways to mitigate the damage most recently seen in British Columbia as historic rain, floods, mudslides and fire battered the provinces residences, businesses and infrastructure.
